Am Ranini Cundasawmy from Mauritius. I cannot put into words how deeply grateful and overjoyed my husband and I are for the incredible journey we've had with Master Toddy in the world of Muay Thai. Our story began with a dream, a dream that simmered within us ever since our debut in Muay Thai. The dream was simple but profound - to train in Thailand under the guidance of the legendary Muay Thai Master, the Great Grand Master Toddy.
For years, we were entranced by his videos, watching them with admiration, and secretly wishing for the day when we could meet this living legend in person. We embarked on a journey of relentless training, pouring our hearts and souls into our craft, all with the hope that one day, we would step foot into Master Toddy's gym.
A decade passed, filled with determination and anticipation. Yes, a whole decade! And then, the day we had waited for so long finally arrived. As I made my way to Master Toddy's Gym in Bangkok, my heart raced with excitement. Meeting him for the first time was like a dream come true. The culmination of ten years of unwavering dedication and belief in our dream.
My husband and I were overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. He always told me, "One day, we will go to Master Toddy's." And that day had finally come. We stayed at Master Toddy's training camp and i enrolled in his instructor course. The knowledge and skills we gained were beyond measure. Master Toddy, a true maestro, imparted his wisdom, teaching us techniques, punches, kicks, knees, elbows, clinches, and so much more.
Every moment spent there was a cherished memory. After a month at Master Toddy's training camp, I took my KRU exams and proudly earned certification by the MTIA accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education. It was a moment of immense pride, fulfillment, and gratitude. I was living my dream to the fullest.
Since that momentous day in 2018, my husband and I have made it a yearly tradition to return to Master Toddy's gym to train and bask in the aura of his wisdom.
Then came 2020, a year that brought unexpected challenges with the arrival of COVID-19. Borders closed, fights were cancelled, and we found ourselves locked in Thailand. Initially, it was mentally and emotionally challenging, not knowing what lay ahead during this lockdown. However, we soon realized how blessed and fortunate we were to be at Master Toddy's gym.
Master Toddy embraced us as family, providing unwavering care and love. He took us under his wing, ensuring we were safe and well. We spent two and a half years at Master Toddy's Muay Thai Academy Bangkok and Phetchaburi, where everyone treated us with genuine warmth and care. Even during a global pandemic, we experienced some of the most beautiful moments of our lives, living in Thailand, training with Master Toddy, and acquiring a wealth of knowledge.
My husband, Patrick Cundasawmy, dedicated himself to rigorous training. Master Toddy honed his skills, teaching him fighting techniques, training skills, sparring techniques, and pad work. Patrick even achieved the remarkable milestone of passing his Ajarn exams, a testament to Master Toddy's exceptional guidance. For this, we owe a debt of gratitude that words cannot fully express.
Master Toddy is not just a master of Muay Thai; he is a man with a heart of gold. His kindness, care, and affection are exceptional. We miss him dearly, and I long for the day when I can embrace him once again.
Master Toddy, you have not only fulfilled our dreams but also enriched our lives in ways we never thought possible. Your guidance and love have left an indelible mark on our hearts. We are eternally thankful and filled with love for you, Master Toddy. You are not just our teacher; you are family. We miss you immensely and can't wait for the day when we can be in your presence once more. With all our love. From Ranini Cundasawmy
